Society for Conservation of Environment and Nature

Introduction

“SOCIETY FOR CONSERVATION OF ENVIRONMENT & NATURE (SCEN)” is a non-profit and non-political, professional society to serve the students, faculty and staff of the environmental programs. We seek to strengthen awareness and services in environmental studies the society will work to support the professional development of members not just as individuals but also to advance Environmental Studies and Sciences as a whole.

 Preamble

Environmental science is important for economy and welfare of human society.

It helps us in careful handling of the issues like pollution, overexploitation of natural resources, food security and sustainable development. Although individual efforts are practiced time to time for safeguarding the environment but still there is no such platform in university where we can deal with these issues.

A major aim of “SCEN” is to encourage understanding of environmental science, policy, management, ethics, history, and all of the other vital contributions through disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and trans disciplinary approaches to learning.

Aims and Objectives

 “SCEN” strives to develop an awareness and appreciation of the interrelationship, uniqueness and diversity in the field of Environmental Science. It promotes positive attitudes and actions towards maintaining a balance in the natural environment and encourages students to choose a role of informed guardianship towards its conservation.  The society aims:

  •  To arrange sessions for awareness regarding basic Environmental issues and their solutions.
  • To provide a forum for exchange of ideas and information related to the human and natural environments.
  • To hold walks and seminars on Environment related days i.e. Earth Day, Environment Day and World Water Day.
  • To engaging students in examining a variety of real world environmental issues and grounding scientific knowledge in such realities.
  • To foster co-operation between government, NGO’s and the private sector i.e. Environmental Protection Department (EPD) Punjab and National organizations such as WWF Pakistan and others to rehabilitate our environment.
