Biography

Dr. Tahir Mahmood did his M.Sc. and MPhil Economics from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. He completed his PhD in Economics from Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE), Islamabad. His dissertation entitled “Debt sustainability and dynamics in Pakistan: theory and evidence” wherein he addressed the Debt sustainability issue by developing a theoretical framework and to derive debt sustainability condition for the economy of Pakistan. He has teaching experience of 31 years in his credit in various academic institutions. Dr. Tahir supervised 50 students at and M.Phil Level and produced 1 PhD. His 32 research papers have been published in eminent journals. He is working as reviewer / Evaluator of journals such as Pakistan Economic & Social Review, journal of business and economics & Research Bulletin. He is also a member of board of studies (BOS) at Department of Economics, University of the Punjab, University of Gujrat, and Minhaj University, Lahore. He is computer literate with vast knowledge of working in Econometric Packages like E-views and Microfit. His Areas of special interest are Microeconomic theory, Quantitative Economics and Econometrics. He has been performing the duties of In- charge Admission Committee and Controller of Examination at UVAS Business School.

  • Worked with UNDP on a survey-based project as District Supervisor (District Pakpattan) by leading a team of 10 professionals (surveyors) titled “Social Audit of Governance and Delivery of Public Services 2009/2010” with the collaboration of DTCE (Devolution Trust & Community Empowerment), and PPAF (Pakistan Poverty Elevation Foundation). The survey was conducted during January 21-30, 2010 consisted of 480 households, DCO, DPO, District Nazim, Tehsil Nazims, UC Nazims, TMOs and many other government/public servants.
