Medicine Research Laboratory
The Medicine Research Lab, a cutting-edge facility in the Medicine Department, is dedicated to postgraduate research under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ijaz. The lab is well-equipped with advanced culturing and molecular techniques. Its primary research focuses on antimicrobial-resistant pathogens in livestock and their therapeutic options, with a significant emphasis on bovine mastitis, particularly Staphylococcus aureus, and vaccine development against it. Currently, the lab hosts five PhD students and three MPhil students conducting their research. Recently, two research projects have been successfully completed in this lab.
Research and Diagnostic Laboratory for Tick Borne Diseases
The Research and Diagnostic Laboratory for Tick-Borne Diseases, located in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the Main Campus, is led by Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani. This lab primarily focuses on developing effective techniques for diagnosing, treating, controlling, and preventing tick-borne diseases, as well as studying their mechanisms of spread.
One of the ongoing projects in the lab is titled "Novel Drug Development Via Cell-Based Trials of Calotropis procera Against Blood Protozoans in Ruminants." Currently, the laboratory supports the research efforts of four MPhil and four PhD students, each working on various related projects.
Animal Health Research Lab
The Animal Health Research Lab, part of the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Lahore, focuses on disease diagnosis through confirmatory laboratory tests and the implementation of on-field treatments. Led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Avais, the lab is currently engaged in a research project titled "Development and Evaluation of New Rapid Culture Systems for On-Farm Use to Make Therapeutic Decisions for Mastitis Cases in Dairy Cattle." The lab supports the work of seven MPhil and three PhD students, who are actively involved in various research initiatives.
Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory
The Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory, located at the Outdoor Hospital of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences in Lahore, operates under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Avais. The primary objective of this laboratory is to offer affordable testing services to animal owners. The main tests conducted include Complete Blood Count (CBC), Liver Function Tests (LFT), Renal Function Tests (RFT), blood parasite testing, fecal parasite testing, milk culture sensitivity tests, and milk somatic cell counts.
