Services

Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition not only delivering its academic services but also providing health services in the form of Human Nutrition Clinic and OTP (Outpatient Therapeutic programme). In Pakistan the nutritional indicators of the populations are not satisfactory as dietary imbalance is affecting day by day. This dietary imbalance causing great disturbances in the health of individuals especially children and women of child bearing age. Similarly, food which is available to the masses is not meeting quality and safety standards ultimately leading towards poor human health upon consumption. Therefore, department of Food Science and Human Nutrition took an initiative and established Human Nutrition Clinic in 2016 at city campus, UVAS, Lahore with an aim serving community by extending nutrition care facilities.

Objectives

The main objective of the Human Nutrition Clinic is to improve the overall health scenario of the community by provision of committed professionals who can improve nutritional status.

Facilities providing by Human Nutrition Clinic are;

  • Recovery of health from different diseases
  • Weight management
  • Nutrition management of chronic diseases
  • Outpatient centre for malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women
  • Training of students of UVAS graduates (1-year deficiency programme in Nutrition and Dietetics)
  • MPhil research of postgraduate students
