Section of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology

The surgery section is an important component of Department of Clinical Sciences. The section has currently three areas of work i.e. Surgery, anesthesia and radiology. The section has well-established facilities of Gaseous anesthesia, Radiography, Dentistry, Electric Cautery. Air conditioned Operation Theater and animal examination room. The section has made substantial role for the treatment of different types of surgical affections including different types of hernia in large and small animal, long bone fractures by using intramedullary pinning and Platting, mandibular fractures in calves, different types of neoplastic tumors, correction of different congenital abnormalities and urolithiasis in ruminants. The section has hosted many hands on trainings related to General surgery, abdominal ultrasonography, Soft tissue surgery and Shoeing and soundness to provide updated knowledge to students, field veterinarians and faculty members

Activities

• Practical demonstration of different surgical interventions in small animals and in large animal to undergraduate students on survival basis.
• Establishments of facility of soft tissue and orthopedic surgery for large and small animals suffering from different surgical affections.
• Gaseous Anesthesia facilities along with pulse oximeter monitoring for small animal surgical interventions.
• Radiology facilities for students’ practical training and for diagnosis of different musculoskeletal problems.
• Basic research facility in the field of veterinary surgery, radiology and anesthesia
• To conduct advance trainings in the field of soft tissue surgery, radiology, farriery and anesthesia
• To provide quality service to the livestock farmers and pet owners

Extension Services

• Ambulatory service (Paid) for livestock farmers and pet owners of District Jhang
• Farmers education in the form of Farmers days about the different surgical affections in large and small animals
• Daily surgical treatment of different cases arrived at CVAS, Jhang Veterinary Teaching hospital
