Biography

Dr. Tahir Yaqub is a Senior Member of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore where his work focuses on promoting students academics and sharing knowledge about research. He serves as one of the program’s lead trainers. Dr. Tahir served as a member of the Animal Care. Prior to working at UVAS, Dr. Tahir was a research Officer at Livestock Production and research Institute, Bhadurnagar, Okara. He is also serving as senior Tutor of UVAS with the focus on students’ participation and courage in curricular & extracurricular activities. He is DVM, and MSc Microbiology from this esteemed Institute. Dr. Tahir has a PhD Microbiology, and also did Post-Doc from Animal Health Compton UK where his work was on Novel genotyping of H9 Avian Influenza and its Phylogenetic Analysis. His research interests include investigating the biology, pathogenesis, immunology, epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of livestock diseases. Currently, his focus has been to improve diagnostic assays and vaccination strategies for livestock pathogens. The epidemiological and disease surveillance studies include the monitoring of poultry disease outbreaks caused by avian influenza, Newcastle disease and infectious bursal disease and avian infectious bronchitis viruses. Recently he has trained on Biorisk Management from Sandia International laboratory, USA and he is one of the Master Trainers on Biosafety & Biosecurity I Pakistan.
