Interventions to target hunger among students and staff

2024

  A massive flood destructed the huge popularity of Pakistan. People suffered from financial, health, life, and social crisis. UVAS arranged a campaign to conduct a donation drive. This drive proved to be quite beneficial for the flood victims.

  Vets Care Club signed MOUs with Todd's Welfare Society And Saadat International for collaboration in SNIP-150. Under this project 150 stray adopted cats will be Spayed, Neutered and Vaccinated. This project is supervised by *Todd's Welfare Society* . These surgeries will be performed at *Abid Pets Clinic, Saad Pets Clinic, Ismail Pets Clinic, Seruj Pets Clinic* and Todd's Welfare Society Shelter

  Vets Care Club parented Veterinary Joint Venture on World Veterinary Day to promote Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness. The event started with Awareness walk and then speakers from different communities shared their thoughts this day.

  Vets Care Club presented a session on Animal Welfare and Ethics. Dr. Muhammad Javaid Khan was invited as the speaker. He delivered a complete lecture on Animal welfare and ethics. He taught us how to fulfill 5 freedoms of animals related to animal welfare. He taught us about the structures of the horse then he demonstrated on dummy horse how to pass Nasogastric tube through the nasal cavity into esophagus of animal. He also demonstrated how to put injection into the vein of horse.

  On this Spring Festival Vets Care Club organized "Egg Fiesta" on 14th March. This included Egg Shell Painting Competition and other games among all the departments of UVAS. The event was inaugurated with ribbon cutting ceremony by worthy guests including Dr. Muhammad Oneeb and Prof. Dr. Abdul Hafeez. Miss Urwa Tul Wosqa (visual Artist) was invited as event judge.

  Vets Care Club organized 2nd pets Gala and Panchi Mela.This Pet Show  constituted of Cat Show, Dog Show and Panchi Mela*.
The following  rules and regulations must be adhered to for the pet show:

  1. Please arrive on time and avoid being late.
  2. Cats must be kept in their baskets or cages.
  3. The dog's harness must be intact at all times, and the owner's presence is compulsory.
  4. Pet must be vaccinated.
  5. All participants will receive a certificate of appreciation and Shield for their participation.

  Vets Care Club organized free Eid Treatment camp from 23rd to 25th of june at Shahpur Kanjran Mandi, Lahore. Day 1st of Eid treatment camp commensed with the ribbon cutting ceremoney. Esteemed representatives from various pharmaceutical industries graced the occasion with their presence.Students were given a great opportunity to conduct general physical examinations of sacrificial animals.Practical skills such as handleing, taking temperature, pulse and respiration (TRP) evaluating ruminal sounds and gaining hand on experience in the field were also imparted. Furthurmore, the camp provided free treatment to sacrificial animalssuffering from various ailments including 'indigestion, lameness, tympany, hyperthermia, tick fiver, lactic acidosis and many other diseasees.' The camp conducted was highly efficatious, advantageous as the students aquired extensive knowledge about animal kingdom, their behaviour patterns, the diseases that effect them and their treatment.

  1st veterinary joint venture under Vets Care Students Professional Program on 3rd August 2023. Basic theme was based on the challenges in livestock sectors faced by young vets. This veterinary joint venture was a discussion between the representatives of all the fields regarding livestock sector including Dr. Shahzad Naveed Jadoon(CEO AllTeck Pakistan), Mr. Asif Malik (NSM livestock Division, Mustafa Brothers), Dr.Mohsin Ali Gujjar (Farm manager), Mian Azeem Sadiq (Owner Hajveri Farm) and Proffessor Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani (UVAS).

2023

Vets Care Club in collaboration with Todd’s Welfare Society, held a 2 day training workshop for demonstrating spay surgery to veterinary students. This two day event of Spay Surgery demonstration was a part of Project SNIP-100 by TWS which is Pakistan’s biggest TNVR project for community cats. The surgeries were demonstrated by Dr. Asfand Yar Ahmad. Apart from the demonstrations of Spay surgeries, the students also learned the Techniques of Taking body temperature, CRT and prevention of ticks in dogs and cats.

The 2 day “Animal Health Mentoring Framework Workshop” arranged by Vets Care Club in collaboration with Brooke Pakistan, was successfully carried out. Dr. Muhammad Javaid Khan, Animal Health Care Manager at Brooke, headed the 2 day workshop and shed light on the knowledge and important skills required to assure good animal health including good welfare, proper handling and restraint, basic needs, pain recognition, basic clinical examination, treatment protocols and various other essential skills that a clinician must have the knowledge of while dealing with equines.

Vets care club, a non government organization working for the welfare of animals and for the uplift of Veterinary Profession in Pakistan turned 20 years old and to celebrate its Vicennial Commemoration, Vets Care Club organized a grand event. The event also covered the oath taking ceremony of the newly formed cabinet.

Vets Care Club organized a UGRAD Guidance Session for the young vets. In this session Vets Care Club invited the fresh UGRAD students. The session was held in the amphitheater. Each speaker shared their experiences and guided the young veterinary students towards better chances of excellence.

Vets care club in association with NAWAN laboratories and Selmore Pharmaceuticals organized a grand event to celebrate the World Veterinary Day. Firstly there was a poster competition on the theme Strengthening Veterinary Resilience.
