Biography

Dr. Muhammad Zahid Farooq  is working as  lecturer in the Department of Animal Sciences, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Jhang,(Sub Campus University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore) Pakistan since October 2009. He passed DVM from University of Agriculture Faisalabad in 2009. He has received his M.Phil degree in Livestock Management from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore in 2015. In his M.Phil research, he worked on “Effect of feeding frequency on the growth performance of  Lohi lambs during post weaning period” under the supervision of  Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdullah. The main aim of research was to investigate the effect of increase feeding frequency on the growth performance, feed consumption and digestibility in Lohi lambs. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD degree in Animal Molecular nutrition in Huazhong Agricultural University, Wuhan China. His current area of research is nutrient sensing and lipophagy.
Dr. Zahid has more than 10 years working experience as Lecturer in the Department of Animal Sciences, CVAS, Jhang. He has more than 10 popular articles. He has published many research papers in international and national journals and presented his research work in international conferences. He organized many field and farms around the premesis of district Jhang along with Dairy/Livestock Lab and Livestock/dairy Farm development at CVAS Jhang. He is also worked as reviewer  international conferences and editorial member in more than four international   journals.

Area of interest

  • Metagenomic, transcriptomic,Proteomic, and metabilomic studies in buffalo rumen and also using mouse as model animal.
  •  Screening and identification of Lignin degrading bacteria, fungi in buffalo rumen
  • Intensive beef production by using growth promoters in small ruminants
  • Exploring fattening potential in small ruminants under intensive production system
