Biography

Mr. Ammar Sarwar is Lecturer at Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. He holds Doctor of Pharmacy and M. Phil (Pharmacology) from University College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore. His M. Phil research was on “Studies of antibiotic susceptibility pattern in patients of gynaecological infections admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore.”

Before joining of teaching as formal profession in 2015 he had been serving in the Health Department, Government of the Punjab as Hospital Pharmacist at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore since 2011. He performed his professional responsibilities very diligently which were mainly patient prescription review and validation, patient profile and medication chart review for identification of potential pharmacotherapy/drug related problems and their resolution, clinical interventions on patient prescription medications, patient counseling on medications use, inventory control and procurement of pharmaceuticals in accordance with the official laid down procedures. He has also worked as Provincial Inspector Drugs where he was dealing with regulatory matters. His hard work and dedication towards his assigned duties earned him great respect among hospital administration and higher ups.

He has also worked as Medical Information Officer in Novartis Pharma, a Swiss based multinational pharmaceutical firm, for about 15 months. His major task was to provide information and deliver presentations to physicians in order to introduce a new antihypertensive fixed dose combination.

He has also served as community pharmacist at Fazal Din’s Pharma Plus, Shalamar Hospital, Lahore for a period of one year between 2008 and 2009. His main responsibilities were prescription handling to ensure appropriate medicines dispensed, counseling to patients for optimization of drug therapy, control of narcotics and drug abuse, in housekeeping to maintain medicines inventory.

He holds the honor of academic and professional distinctions, the major being merit scholarship from University College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab Lahore, pioneer member of pharmacy health club and first aid project at University College of Pharmacy, Coordinator Pharmamag, University College of Pharmacy, Secretary Pharmacy & Therapeutic committee Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore and member of various committees in the hospital including Technical Advisory committee to evaluate the quality of pharmaceuticals.

He has great endeavors in the field of teaching and research.
