World Pharmacist Day

The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS) celebrates the World Pharmacists Day (WPD) on September 25. The theme resonated on the "Pharmacists: your medicines experts", stressing upon that pharmacists are a trusted source of knowledge and advice, not just for patients, but also for healthcare professionals.

Hon. Pro-Voice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani led the walk to create awareness about the essential role of pharmacist in improving medication safety. While, the Dean, Biological Sciences, Prof. Dr. Habib-ur-Rahm and Director, IPS, Dr. Farzana Chowdhary along with all faculty members of IPS and a large number of students (IPS) participated in this awareness walk.

Later the World pharmacist Day was celebrated with a Cake Cutting Ceremony. On this day, as a chief guest, Director IPS joined the event and cut cake. Meanwhile all of IPS faculty members’ along with huge number of students attended the ceremony. On this occasion, the Director, IPS called for action on the 2018 WPD theme; “Pharmacists: your medicines experts". In a brief motivational speech, the Director provided a contemporary scenario on the scope, role and responsibilities of pharmacists in clinical practice. She stressed on utilizing the research facilities of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to provide evidence-based pharmaceutical care services.

It was a day where students and faculty of the College of Pharmacy and pharmacists of the Mian Munshi Hospital came together as one to celebrate their determination to lead the change in pharmacy education and practice with the ultimate goal of optimizing patient care.
