Policy to identify, monitor and protect any IUCN Red Listed species and national conservation list species

  • Department of Parasitology in collaboration with Zoos and Safaris, closely monitors the parasitic challenges encountered by the big cats (Tigers, Lions, Puma), herbivores (mouflon sheep, Sambar deer, Urial), birds (pheasants, parrots, cassovary, ostrich) and camels living in captive conditions, in an effort to provide a timely diagnosis of the parasitic diseases found in these above-mentioned and any other animal and bird species. The Department of Parasitology also contributes in formulating the therapeutic as well as control programs for various parasitic infections prevalent in the area where Zoos and Safaris are located.
