Biography

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Avais, is Professor of Medicine in Department of Clinical Medicine and Surgery, Faculty of Veterinary Science at UVAS, Lahore. He qualified DVM in 2001 and M.Sc. (Hons.) in 2003 in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. He served as Lecturer in 2004 at UVAS and obtained his PhD degree in Clinical Medicine in 2011 from UVAS. During his PhD studies he won six months Fellowship from HEC for research at University of Minnesota USA. He has more than 15 years of teaching, research, clinical and administration experience. He was Resident Tutor Hostels, Vice President Hiking Club, Vice President Indoor games, and was Treasurer Academic Staff Association. Dr. Avais was Incharge Outreach Center and Medicine Laboratory. Currently he is Secretary Synopsis Scrutiny Committee FVS, Focal Person QEC, and also Treasurer UVAS Alumni Association.  He has supervised 24 MPhil students and 2 PhD students, and 11 are in progress including 4 PhD scholars, and published more than 50 research papers in national and international refereed scientific journals.  Dr. Avais has won two travel grants from HEC to present research papers abroad and has also won 2 research projects from funding agencies. Dr. Avais is member Editorial Board of two scientific journals and also members various societies including International Society for Infectious Diseases.
