Biography

Dr. Muhammad Usman, is Assistant Professor at Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. He got B.Pharmacy degree from University of the Punjab in 2005 and M.Phil in Pharmacology and Toxicology from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore in 2008. He went to Germany in 2013 and completed his doctoral degree in December 2016 from University of Muenster, Germany.
He started his professional career in Feb 2006 as Community Pharmacist and served at Himont Pharmacy Gujranwala as Branch Manager for 9 months. Then he joined Doctor’s Hospital and Medical Centre as retail Pharmacist on 02-11-2006 and worked till 07-11-2008.
Immediately after completion of his M.Phil in 2008 he joined Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UVAS as Lecturer on 08-11-2008 and was a member of pioneer team in the establishment of this esteemed Institute.
He is also a part of Bioequivalence Study Center (BeSt Center), UVAS, Lahore. He is skillful in conducting clinical trials for Bioequivalence studies and quantification of drugs in biological fluids through HPLC.
The research title of his M.Phil Thesis was “Comparative pharmacokinetics of Levofloxacin in Healthy Volunteers and in Patients Suffering from Typhoid Fever”. During M.Phil he got hands on training of clinical trials and quantification of drug concentrations in human plasma by using HPLC.
The area of research in Doctoral study is Population Pharmacokinetics in Elderly Patients. He got a good experience of working on different Pharmacokinetic software including NONMEM® and PK-Sim®. He is the Pioneer Pharmacometrician who is introducing this technique in Pakistan and has developed Pakistan’s 1st ever Pharmacometrics Laboratory at IPS, UVAS. He has also represented Pakistan as Pharmacometrician at different scientific forums in Pakistan and across the globe.
