Biography

Muhammad Umar Farid is working as a lecturer in Department of Animal Sciences, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore sub campus Narowal. He graduated as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and holds Master of Meat science and Technology from University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. During his Masters he completed his research in titled ‘Effect of age, sex and chilling method on meat quality traits of indigenous goats’.He also worked as Research associate in department of Meat Science & Technology (UVAS) and played a major role in start and operations of a “Model Meat Shop” in Lahore, which was constructed by UVAS professionals with the collaboration of L&DD, Punjab.

Area of Interest

His areas of interest are Post-slaughter meat refrigeration technologies, meat cutting, meat inspection, Hygiene of meat and meat products, meat color and shelf life, post slaughter technologies for improving meat quality.

  • He worked as a Research Associatein2017 in the Research Project titled “Commercialization of Value Added Meat (Fresh Beef, Organic Mutton and Camel Veal) from Fattened Young Buffalo calves, Young Camel and Male Goat/Sheep Reared under Extensive Organic Production System” with collaboration of Government of Punjab in the Department of Meat Science & Technology, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore. 
  • Actively participate in Civic Engagement Project held at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Ravi campus in collaboration with PENNSTATE University from August 2014 to December 2014.
