HABITAT:

  • Cultivated extensively throughout the hills and plains of Pakistan

DESCRIPTION:

  • An annual aromatic herbaceous plant 30-40 cm high
  • Leaves alternate, pinnatified or decompound, leaf base auricular.
  • Pinnules oblong, narrow, obtuse.
  • Inflorescence of white flower in terminal compound umbel, involucel usually of 3 short liner lanceolate bracts
  • Fruits are 2-3.5 mm in diameter, yellow to brownish in colour, globular and consist of two halves.

PERIOD OF OCCURRENCE:

  • Sowing time varies in different parts of country. It takes 3-4 months crops to mature

  • The plants are up-rooted when the fruits are ripened. These are then dried and thrashed to collect the fruit.
