HABITAT:

DESCRIPTION:

  • Perennial herb
  • Leaves 2-4 pinnatified, lower leaves 30-60 cm, umbel compound.
  • Flowers yellow often polygamous petals ovate, obtuse or emarginated.
  • Fruit orbicular or ellipsoid much compressed, inner surface plane

PART USED:

  • Gum Resin

TASTE:

  • Bitter and acrid

TEMPERAMENT:

  • Hot 4°, dry 2°

PERIOD OF OCCURRENCE:

  • Just before flowering of plant at the end of March

PROCEDURE & TIME OF COLLECTION:

  • A slice is cut off from the top the root stock. A thick gummy reddish substance appears in irregular lumps upon the exposed surface, this exudates is scraped off in spring and placed in a leather bag
