Biography

Dr. Beenish Aftab is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. She got her M. Phil. and Ph.D. degree in Plant Molecular Biology with distinction from CEMB (Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology), University of the Punjab, Lahore. She is a motivated Research Professional holding a Ph.D. in Plant Functional Genomics with extensive experience in molecular research projects demonstrating expertise in molecular research techniques and methodologies having published literature in national and international journals. During her Ph.D. project, she explored cotton leaf curl virus (CLCuV) tolerant genes in cotton using differential display technique providing prolific strategy for CLCuV resistant cultivar development through transgenic approach. She also got foreign research training in advanced molecular techniques from University of California-Davis, California (USA). She has been awarded two HEC scholarship during her Ph.D. tenure.
Currently, she is supervising 10 M.Sc. students. Moreover, she is QEC focal person of Department of Biological Sciences, UVAS-Ravi Campus. She is also involved in Botanical Garden development in UVAS-Ravi Campus. Dr. Beenish has broad experience in Botany , plant molecular biology and genetic biotechnology and has better understanding of gene(s) identification & their characterization against pathogenic diseases for plant species conservation by using recent molecular techniques.
