Policy for International Students for Admission in Undergraduate Degree Program at UVAS, Lahore

This scheme aims to assist international students with educational aspirations in Pakistan. A limited number of seats at University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore have been allocated for foreign citizens with an HSSC or equivalent degree.

Objectives

  • To encourage expatriate Pakistanis to stay connected with their mother country, and foreign nationals to learn about Pakistani culture and society
  • To encourage knowledge-sharing with friendly, fellow developing countries
  • To improve relationships with the international community

Eligibility Criteria for International Students

  • ​​The applicant must hold a foreign nationality (Foreign Passport Holder) at the time of application and admission.
  • The applicant must have passed higher secondary school (12th Grade) or the equivalent and with the following combination of subjects; or subjects according to the requirements of degree. 
    • Physics, Chemistry, Biology for Pre-Medical
    • Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics for Pre-Engineering
  • Selection of the students against the seats allocated to international students will be made purely on merit to be determined by UVAS, Lahore.
  • This eligibility criteria will be implemented for all undergraduate degree programs. However applicant with different subjects can also apply and university may determine the eligibility based on these subjects. For further details please visit eligibility criteria section please click here

Note:
Medium of instruction at UVAS is English. Hence it is mandatory for international student to submit an undertaking that he / she can read / write / speak English language.

How to Apply

Foreign nationals (Foreign Passport Holder) may submit their applications online at UVAS website www.uvas.edu.pk

NOTE: Only "Submitted" application forms will be processed by system for merit list generation. "Saved" applications will not be considered at any stage of the admission process. 

Terms & Conditions

  • Documents required at the time of conformation of admission for in Undergraduate Degree Program:
  • ​Print out of online application form (03 copies of all documents and passport)
  • Certificates / Marks Sheet of HSSC / equivalent examination attested / verified by IBCC.
  • Equivalence Certificate from Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) Islamabad (in case of O level, A level)
  • "Verification of Foreign Passport" by the concerned Embassy in Pakistan must be submitted in sealed envelope.
  • Recent Photographs (should be pasted at each form).
  • Nomination letter or original NOC of concerned Embassy for studying in Pakistan
  • HEC "Foreign Student Information Sheet" to be filled in & signed by the applicant can be downloaded from (nocforeign@hec.gov.pk).
  • Exempt of SAT-I or II due to Covid-19 on case to case to basis.
  • The documents received through email will be considered only if its original or true certified copies are received subsequently within due date.
  • Option/preference for admission in the degrees given in the application form shall be final and will not be changed. However in special circumstances it can be changed based on justification.
  • After admission under this Scheme, migration from one University to another University/College shall not be allowed in any case.
  • In case of any dispute, the applicant can sue or be sued only in the courts of law situated in the territorial jurisdiction.

Facilitation BY HEC

The Higher Education Commission Islamabad also aims to facilitate foreign students with all administrative aspects of their application and study in Pakistan including applying to universities, obtaining a Non-Objection Certificate (NOC), and securing a visa. Please note the following instructions to apply to professional programs as foreign national.
Foreign nationals’ applicants can apply at UVAS directly and must inform the HEC Islamabad, Pakistan.

Application instructions:

  • The foreign applicant must apply directly to UVAS. The university will then send a copy of the acceptance letter to the HEC, which will then confirm its receipt and pass on an endorsement to the Ministry of Interior.
  • The student must then apply for a visa with a Pakistani Embassy or Consulate in their country. He or She must submit the following documents or other documents as needed by the Embassy of Pakistan. For details please visit the website of concerned Embassy of Pakistan in your home country:
    • Application Form (Student Visa Form)
    • Photocopy of passport
    • Photograph
    • All relevant transcripts, diplomas, and other educational documents
    • Acceptance letter from the university applied to
    • HEC "Foreign Student Information Sheet" to be filled in & signed by the applicant
  • The Pakistani Embassy or Consulate abroad will then forward the complete application to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, for further processing.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will forward the application to the Ministry of Interior for security clearance. The Ministry of Interior will consult with the Ministry of Education and Health and the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad in this process. It must complete the clearance process within four weeks, and submit its judgment on the matter to a) The HEC and b) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad, Pakistan.
  • The HEC must then notify the concerned university and Ministry of Health of the decision by email.
  • The visa, once issued, must be renewed annually, adhering to the same security clearance process.

Visa Renewal

  • The UVAS bears the responsibility of:
    • Verifying the Visa Extension Form
    • Issuing a Bona Fide Student Certificate
    • Recommending whether or not to extend the visa

 

  • The student must submit these documents to the concerned Passport Office (or mail to the Pakistani Embassy or Consulate, if living abroad), which will then grant the visa extension.

Furthermore, UVAS will also follow the HEC guidelines in order to provide a temporary solution for students and enable them to avoid unnecessary academic disruption:

  • Instead, universities may grant provisional admission to such students, subject to confirmation if they qualify the needed subjects within one year from the date of enrolment in their respective universities or DAIs.
  •  Universities may establish additional entrance requirement (e.g., of subjects studied) to determine the eligibility of applicants for admission to undergraduate degree programs in different disciplines, in accordance with the IBCC criteria (http://www.ibcc.edu.pk/criteria.php) as well as the requirements of professional councils.
  •  In accordance with normal policy in admission matters, the completion of admission requirements in sub-paras i and ii shall be the sole responsibility of the student, and non-compliance with the requirements shall result in termination of the admission at the risk and cost of the student.
