LAHORE (19-01-24): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad inaugurated “Training Centre for Biologics Production (TCBP)” at Ravi Campus Pattoki.
Emeritus Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha (SI), Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Saima, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Muhammad Azam, Principle Officer Ravi Campus Prof Dr Arshad Javid, Prof Dr Ali Raza Awan and number of faculty and staff members were present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed said that vaccine production is very necessary to prevent fatal foot and mouth disease. He said quality vaccination is the only way to prevent deadly diseases like FMD and livestock farming community & students would get maximum benefits from this centre. He said it is outstanding achievement of UVAS has been that for the first time in public sector university obtained drug manufacturing license from DRAP for Foot & Mouth vaccine production. He acknowledged the efforts of former UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha for the establishment of TCBP during his tenure.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that the project had been conceived and planned with the collaboration of Turkish experts and this centre will contribute to the economy of the country by preventing diseases, which are causing huge losses to the livestock. Prof Dr Ali Raza Awan shared different challenges facing while establishing TCBP, its capacity, components and importance for livestock sector.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad also inaugurated recently renovated Estate Management Department, Security Guard Hostel and UVAS Residencies 2.
Later Secretary Livestock & Dairy Development Department Punjab Muhammad Masood Anwar along with Chinese delegations from Biotech Company, Blooming Biotech and Biomedical Corporation Mr Shen Jing, Mr Wang Guosheng Sun Wento and Zhang Yan visited Training Centre for Biologics Production (TCBP). They visited different section of TCBP and reviewed available facilities.
