Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus assumes charge of UVAS Vice-Chancellor

LAHORE (08-03-24): Chancellor/Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman nominated Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) as Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) Lahore for a period of three years. Prof Dr M Younus also assumed charge of UVAS Vice-Chancellor.

UVAS faculty, administrative officers, staff and stakeholders from (livestock, poultry, dairy, meat, food & pharmaceutical) industries, faculty members from different institutions of Pakistan congratulated on his nomination as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of UVAS. They lauded their services in the field of veterinary with their vast experience of teaching for the uplift of veterinary education.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Younus said that improving genetic potential of animals, increasing exports by value addition, food safety and quality, sustainable development goals, improving value chain (milk and meat), one health and smart livestock farming are his targets for livestock sector development and he thanked all the staff for best wishes.

Prof Dr M Younus already performing his duty as Vice-Chancellor of University of Narowal and as a Principal of UVAS`s sub-campus Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KBCMA-CVAS) Narowal.

Prof Dr Muhammad Younus conferred Tamga-i-Imtiaz civil award by President of Pakistan on the occasion of the Independence Day 2023 for his outstanding performance and showing excellence in the field of veterinary science. Prof Younus was earlier conferred with Distinguished Leadership Award International (DLA.I) by USA in 2016.

He has 28 years administrative, developmental, academic and research vast experience as well as vice-chancellor, Principal, Professor, Project Director, Chairman in the University Setup and as Deputy Director Planning and Development, Executive District Officer, District Livestock Officer & Coordinator in Livestock Department and International funded organizations etc.

He is a PhD in Pathology & Public Health, Post Doc from USA. He is successfully running 15 Projects (Developmental and Research) from National and International Funding Agencies of worth Rs: 7,000 million. He published 275 Research Publications including Abstracts have been published in Impact Factor & in HEC Recognized Journals. He also supervised/co-supervised 60 MPhil and 18 PhD students. He is author of 14 Books & 32 Book Chapters. During UVAS service he established 02 Livestock Complexes at Narowal District, established and developed two university level institutes on in Jhang and other in Narowal.
