UVAS & SARP ceremony pays homage to Prof Manzoor Ahmad for his contributions to veterinary education on his 90th birthday

LAHORE (11-03-24): The University of Veterinary and Animal Science Lahore (UVAS) in collaboration with Society for Animal Reproduction of Pakistan (SARP) holds a ceremony to pay homage to former UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Manzoor Ahmad for his extraordinary contributions in veterinary education and reproduction in dairy animals on his 90th birthday. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus, Emeritus Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, President SARP Prof Dr Amjad Riaz, Former Hockey Player & Olympian/Gold Medalist Prof Dr Tariq Aziz Khawaja and a number of UVAS Deans, Directors, Chairmen’s/Chairpersons, Alumni members, stakeholders (poultry, dairy, livestock, meat) industries, officials from Livestock Department and daughters of Prof Dr Manzoor Ahmad were present in the ceremony.

While addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Manzoor said that UVAS is a prestigious institution in the world through its quality of education & research which is the result of collective efforts. He said he always working hard for the development of UVAS with dedication. He said hardworking is the key to success. Later in the ceremony Prof Dr Manzoor Ahmad along with other dignitaries cut a cake and celebrated 90th birthday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that Prof Dr Manzoor is an institution and father of veterinary profession in Pakistan. He said Prof Manzoor played a lead role in the uplift of livestock sector in Pakistan. He mentioned Prof Dr Manzoor never compromised on merit and hard work, passion, dedication and commitment are some of the qualities of his personality.

Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad spoke about the biography of Prof Dr Manzoor Ahmad and his contribution to the field of veterinary science, reproduction and for the uplift of veterinary education in Pakistan as well as many well-known countries of the world. He said Prof Manzoor is the real asset of UVAS and role model for young generation. He shared with the audience that Prof Manzoor have almost 70 years administrative, developmental, academic and research experience and had performed duties on different positions as well as remained vice-chancellor, principal and professor etc. Earlier, Prof Dr Amjad Riaz spoke about the objectives of Society for Animal Reproduction of Pakistan. He said aims of SARP were to disseminate knowledge related to artificial insemination and reproduction of dairy animal and embryo transfer technology among dairy farmers and professionals to boost dairy sector in Pakistan.
