International Women’s Day at UVAS

UVAS City Campus, Lahore:

On March 9, 2015 International Women’s Day was observed in UVAS City Campus, Lahore. A seminar followed by walk was executed. The session started with a walk led by the Worthy Vice Chancellor  Prof Dr.Talat Naseer Pasha and the Deans of respective faculties at 9:40 am within the main campus.

After walk, a poster competition was conducted in Conference Hall of the university in which students of all the degrees participated actively.A seminar was held in the Main Auditorium of UVAS which was based on the theme “make it happen”. Dr.Talat Naseer Pasha, Vice Chancellor of UVAS presided the session. In the beginning Documentaries were presented by the two student based societies namely Vets Care Club (working under the Auspices of Vets Care Organization, Pakistan) & Vets Crescent Society based on the themes “Let your walls wear colours”  and “Empowering women” respectively. After this, a skit and mime was presented which depicted the cruelty imposed women regarding ‘The Right of Virasat’. Ms. Farhat Manzoor (President of RSIWEW-LHR) gave her views about the role of women in society on the behalf of Razia Sultana International Organization. Dr.Shaheen Ateeq was also among the distinguished guests who inferred light upon the rights of women in the society.At the end, prize distribution ceremony was held in which worthy Vice Chancellor distributed Shields to the winners of the Poster competition and Certificates to the participants. Shields were also presented to the representatives from various Institutes of Lahore. In his address, Vice Chancellor, Dr.Talat Naseer Pasha emphasized upon the importance of women in our society and specifically in the university. He showed his concern about the lack of indemnities given to women.

UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki(09-03-2015):

Vets Care Club & Vets Care Organization, Pakistan celebrated International Women's Day 2015 in collaboration with Ghazi Brothers, Pakistan under the theme "MAKE IT HAPPEN".

The Daylong event started with the awareness walk led by Prof.Dr. M. Akram, Dean Faculty of Animal Production & Technology.

Later a seminar was arranged comprising different re-creational activities. The session was presided by Dr. Muhammad Akram. Ladies from nearby villages of the UVAS Ravi Campus& School girls also attended the seminar. There were different activities in the seminar for the participants as Potato Peeling Competition, Wreath Making Competition, skits, poems & speeches. A Candle light tribute was also presented to Arfa Kareem Randhawa.

At the end, Prof Dr M. Akram appreciated the efforts of students for conducting the session.

College of Veterinary & Animal sciences Jhang:

International women’s day was celebrated at college of veterinary and animal sciences to pay tribute to all form of women hood. An interactive program including painting and presentation of documentary film was arranged to highlight the women status in the society. All the faculty members and female students actively participated in walk to recognize the achievements of women from all walks of life and the great improvements that have been made in the lives of women over time. Speaking on this occasion, Principal CVAS Jhang, Prof. Dr. Younus Rana said that women empowerment is very important for nation building. He urged the students to live their lives according to unique principles of Islam. At the end, he congratulated all the organizersfor arranging such a beautiful even.
