UVAS inks MoU with Livestock Department (Research) KP, (CASVAB) Quetta and VRI Lahore to enhance academic & research cooperation in vaccine production

 

LAHORE (20-10-23): Department of Parasitology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding under the project of “Tackling Food Security by Controlling Ticks and Tick-Borne Diseases in Bovines” with Livestock and Dairy Development Department (Research) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Peshawar, Center for Advance Studies in Vaccinology & Biotechnology (CASVAB) Quetta and Veterinary Research Institute Lahore, Punjab to enhance academic & research collaboration in vaccine production.

Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Directorate General Livestock & Dairy Development Department (Research) KP Peshawar Dr Muhammad Ijaz Ali, Directorate General Livestock Punjab (Research) Dr Sajjad Hussain and Director (CASVAB) Dr Saadullah Jan signed the MoU in a ceremony held at City Campus on Friday while UVAS senior faculty members, officials from Livestock Department attended ceremony.

While addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf briefed about the role of UVAS and research facilities for the production of vaccine against tick and tick-borne diseases to boost livestock sector in Pakistan. Prof Dr Muhammad Imran Rasheed said that our objective is to train human resource regarding the latest technologies of vaccine production and for this purpose UVAS door always open for providing technical assistance to livestock professionals.

Later Dr Muhammad Ijaz Ali, Dr Saadullah Jan and Dr Sajjad Hussain spoke about their lab, research facilities for the prevention of deadly disease of livestock. Meanwhile, they distributed certificates among veterinary officers, teaching staff and research associates of hands on training workshop partners.

Under the MoU, all parties will jointly organize seminars, conferences, training workshops, symposiums and also enhance academic & research cooperation. They will conduct research studies and research & development projects in multiple areas related to Veterinary Research Institute and UVAS. All parties will exchange information, scholastic material, development material, sharing advancing innovations and ideas with each other. They will build research linkages and interactive cooperation with the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan. They will also provide internships and training opportunities to students and staff for their capacity building etc.
