UVAS arranged awareness walk to mark World Malaria Day & International DNA day

LAHORE (25-04-24): The Society for Microbiology and Institute of Microbiology (IOM) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with ASM student Chapter UVAS jointly arranged a walk to raise awareness among public about malaria prevention and control on ‘World Malaria Day’.

Meanwhile Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (IBBT) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore also arranged a walk to observed international DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) Day here in City Campus.

The DNA day was celebrated in memory of discovery of DNA structure, because the advances in health agriculture and other fields of biotechnology took place after this amazing discovery of DNA by James D. Watson & Francis H. C. Crick that was reported on 25th April 1953.

Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani led the walk of world malaria day while Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman led the walk of international DNA day. Director (IOM) Prof Dr Aftab Ahmad Anjum, Director (IBBT) Prof Dr Waseem Shahzad, Former Prof Dr Muhammad Asharaf, Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Senior Tutor Prof Dr Ali Raza Awan and a large number of senior faculty members and students participated in the walk.
