Prof Talat Pasha assumes charge of Emeritus Professor at UVAS

LAHORE (01-11-23): Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha assumed the charge as 6th Emeritus Professor of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore on Wednesday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed welcomed Prof Pasha back in UVAS and said he will be a blessing for junior faculty members to learn about new interventions in education and research and they should get maximum benefit from his guidance to uplift the livestock sector. He said, “I’m sure Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha’s role will be affective for the uplift of animal nutrition, livestock, veterinary education and university.” He acknowledged Prof Pasha’s dedicated 45 years’ services for the development of UVAS, Education University and the livestock sector and hoped he will help policy makers and field professionals in solving animal nutrition, poultry, dairy, meat and feeding issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that it is an honour for him to serve again his alma meter. He said it is our responsibility to play our role for livelihood of poor livestock farming community, food safety and food security. He said there are many more opportunities of practical working in the field of animal nutrition to meet livestock farmer needs by adopting modern methods and practices. He said UVAS’s Department of Animal Nutrition had foreign PhD faculty members who are very much experienced in concerning field.

Dean Faculty of Animal Production & Technology welcomed him and said his presence will be an honour for the Department of Animal Nutrition. Registrar Sajjad Hyder said there is dire need of a great scientist in technology advancement and joining of Dr Pasha will bring more efficiency in veterinary education and research.

Prof Pasha recently successfully completed his tenure as Vice-Chancellor University of Education. He also remained Vice-Chancellor of UVAS from 2011 to 2019 for two terms and enhanced liaison with the poultry, dairy, food, meat and livestock industries, promoted community services and developed policy frameworks for the Punjab Livestock Department. Prof Pasha has been conferred Sitara-e-Imtiaz civil award by the President of Pakistan in 2016 for his outstanding performance and showing excellence in the field of veterinary science. He was also awarded with “Hilal-i-Imtiaz” by President of Pakistan in 2023 for his outstanding performance in science, engineering and education.
