Netherlands Ambassador Ms Henny Fokel de Vries visits UVAS

 LAHORE (23-06-23): Netherland Ambassador Ms Henny Fokel De Vries along with Ms Sundas Munawwar paid a visit to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad at City Campus.

Meanwhile a detailed meeting was held with UVAS senior professors and Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the meeting while Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and many administrative officer and faculty members were present.

Ms Henny Fokel De Vries sought possible areas to build strong linkages/collaboration with UVAS. The participants of the meeting put forward various suggestions to collaborate with Netherland in the areas of exchange faculty & students programme to share their knowledge in Netherland veterinary institution to enhancing their practical skills & for research purposes, dairy animal disease control programme for the eradication of blood parasites, development of vaccine production to control deadly disease of livestock, initiate woman leadership programme and food safety etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Nasim briefed Ms Henny Fokel regarding UVAS strong liaison and working relations with different Dutch institutions/organization for the strengthen livestock sector, dairy and poultry sectors of Pakistan. He said many of UVAS faculty members got degrees from Netherland institutions in the areas of animal nutrition, food safety and food security. Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad also showed a video documentary of UVAS to the delegation to give an overview of UVAS research, development interventions and student strength along with national and international collaboration etc. Later Ms Henny Fokel De Vries visited UVAS pet center and veterinary academy.

 

UVAS inks MoU with Cowgenic for joint research & capacity building of students

LAHORE (23-06-23): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding with Cowgenic (UBM Technologies (PVT) Limited) for joint research and capacity building of students.

Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Muhammad Azam and Chief Executive Officer Cowgenic Mr Muhammad Salaman signed a MoU in a ceremony held at City Campus.

Under the MoU, both parties will jointly work on joint research & development programme and they provide opportunities for professionally capacity building of students. Both organizations will jointly arranged conferences, training workshops, symposium and seminars. Cowgenic will provide Rupees 2.2 million to the validation of Cowgenic sensors for reproduction and health in dairy cows etc.
