3-Days refresher training on ‘Good Animal Husbandry Practices, Traceability, Ante/Post Mortem Inspection’ concludes at UVAS

LAHORE (26-07-23): The Department of Meat Science and Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged concluding ceremony of three days Refresher training on Good Animal Husbandry Practices, Traceability, Ante/Mortem & Post Mortem Inspection” here in Veterinary Academy on Wednesday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the concluding ceremony of training and distributed certificates among 29 participants who came from Livestock & Dairy Development Department khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Halal Food Authority (KP) and Local Counsel Board of KP. Senior Expert on Food Safety & Inspection Practices Dr Michele Gallo from UK was the resource person while Chairman Department of Meat Science and Technology Dr Muhammad Hayat Jaspal and Dr Kashif Nauman were the coordinator of training.

During three days training various theoretical and practical aspects have been discussed related to farm inspection & documentation record, postmortem inspection, tractability, animal husbandry best procedures, animal receiving procedures, practical demonstration on ante/mortem inspection & postmortem inspection and record preparation etc.

3-Days hands-on training on ‘Cheese Making’ complete at UVAS

LAHORE (26-07-23): The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L&DD) under the project of ‘Capacity Building of dairy farmers & industry stakeholders on milk value chain’ arranged concluding ceremony of three days hands-on training on cheese making at City Campus on Wednesday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad and Additional Director General Punjab Food Authority Mr Muneer Hussain Chopra co-chaired the concluding ceremony of training and distributed certificates among participants while Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 08 participants/professionals from public and private sectors including dairy farmers/professionals, stakeholders, veterinary officers and food technologist were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad urged dairy professionals to learn about practical knowledge/international standards of milk value addition not only to boost dairy sector but also increase the export of dairy products in international markets. Muneer Hussain Chopra told the participants regarding PFA initiatives/facilities for the benefit of stakeholders. He said PFA door always open for providing assistance to stakeholders to solve their issues. He also lauded UVAS to conduct this training on informative topic.

Dr Junaid spoke about the activities, outcomes, success stories, training module for different batches, exposure visits in dairy industry of capacity building project on milk value chain.

During three days training experts imparted theoretical, practical knowledge, techniques and skills to participant regarding food safety management systems in dairy industry, introduction of cheese & role of pasteurization in cheese production, practical demonstration & production of soft, hard & artisan cheese, nutritional facts and health benefits of cheese, industry analysis, market strategies, promotion and advertisement of cheese variants etc.
