Biography
Prof. Dr. Muti-ur-Rehman Khan Niazi is currently serving in the Department of Pathology, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore-Pakistan. He did his matriculation with distinction, securing second position in district Mianwali with 86.82% marks from Govt. Central Model High School, Mianwali (1989), and got admission to a renowned Govt. College, Lahore (Ravian). Prof. Khan earned a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Agriculture University, Faisalabad in 1996. He appeared in the Punjab Public Service Commission Examination and secured the first position three times in all of Punjab. Being merit number one, he got his first posting in the College of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore where he started his career as a Veterinary Officer and later transferred to the Department of Pathology where he was selected as a lecturer. He qualified for his M.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Pathology from the College of Veterinary Sciences, Lahore, and obtained 1st position in the Faculty securing 3.96/4.00 CGPA (81% marks) in 1998. Dr. Niazi was awarded the Overseas PhD Scholarship for Higher Studies by HEC, Pakistan (2005). He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Hematology (Hematopoietic Stem cells) from the Graduate University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China (2009) on his PhD thesis titled, “Studies on the Effect of hKirre (Kiaa 1867) and Condition Medium (CM) on the hematopoietic progenitor cells ex-vivo expansion and mechanism of self-renewal”. An avowed researcher, his work has been published in prestigious international Journals and national journals. Dr. Niazi has 62 international and 37 national publications on his account. He has produced 74 M.Phil and 09 PhD students. He is running two research projects, one internationally funded and one from a national funding agency.
