Biography
Dr. Asif Ali is working as a Lecturer at the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Faculty of Bio-Sciences, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore.
He has completed his B.Sc (Hons) in Food Science and Technology from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad-Pakistan during his BS project he worked on Nutritional evaluation of different wheat varieties (NARC, Islamabad) and his M.Phil from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore-Pakistan. During his M.Phil. research, he developed infant formula by using indigenous plant protein concentrate. Under the split program, he completed his Ph.D. from UVAS and Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts state, USA. As of his PhD research, he worked on the Association of Lifestyle and Dietary Habits with Blood Choline Levels as Cardiovascular Disease Biomarkers and the Impact of Various Antioxidants on This Biomarker. During his stay at Harvard (USA), he concluded the course of his PhD research where he majorly worked on exploring nutritional epidemiology and Meta-Analysis.
Dr. Asif Ali has worked in hospital setup and the food industry. He has significant scientific contributions as well. He presented a number of researches in national and international conferences. To date, he has authored one book and various publications published in the International Scientific Journals. He is also a reviewer of some notable journals in the Food Science and Nutrition domain. He is a member of the North American Society of Nutritionists and the Society of Nutritional Sciences. He is a technical member of the Integrated Reproductive Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (IRMNCH) and Nutrition program and Punjab Breastfeeding Promotion Board. Furthermore, he served as a senior lecturer at the University Institute of Diet and Nutritional Sciences. Apart from academia, Mr. Asif Ali has been quite active in co-curricular activities during his educational career.
Area of Interest
The public health and community nutrition and exploring the bioactive food nutrients and their implication on community health, especially in controlling metabolic diseases (Diabetes and Cardiovascular diseases) and other Public Health issues.
