Biography

Dr. Allah Bukhsh received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Pharmacy from MONASH University Australia. Dr. Bukhsh is currently an Assistant Professor and Program coordinator for Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy Practice in the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Lahore, Pakistan. He is also an adjunct lecturer at School of Pharmacy, MONASH University Malaysia. He has 17 years’ experience of pharmacy practice, teaching and research in a tertiary care teaching hospital and top-ranked public universities of Pakistan, Malaysia and Australia. Dr. Bukhsh has recently been awarded with the prestigious Mollie Holman Award 2020 form MONASH University Australia to recognize and reward his outstanding doctoral thesis. The Mollie Holman medal is awarded to the best PhD thesis and is among the highest honors bestowed at MONASH University Australia. It is first event in the history of MONASH University that a Pakistani PhD graduate won this award.

Dr. Bukhsh current research interests include self-care in chronic disease management, drug utilization review and pharmacotherapeutics. He has published more than 40 research articles in ISI-Web of Science journals with a cumulative impact factor of above 100, h-index 13, i10-index 17 and total citations around 600. He was a recipient of Graduate Research Student-Publication Awards from MONASH University for publishing his Ph.D. research in JCR Q1 journals in 2018 and 2019. He is also a reviewer for numerous high-impact journals, such as Scientific Reports, BMJ Open Diabetes care and Research, and, Frontiers in Pharmacology.

He managed to present his research in many national and international conferences and won the best oral and poster presentation awards. He had an opportunity to work with President, Australian Diabetes Society (Prof. Sophia Zoungas) at Alfred Hospital Melbourne, by winning the Vice-Chancellor PhD Research Mobility Award from MONASH University in 2018.

During his PhD. Candidature, Dr. Bukhsh has won the People’s Choice Award and First Runner-up Award in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition held at MONASH University Malaysia in 2019 and had represented MONASH Malaysia campus in 3MT Wild Card round held in Australia.

Dr. Bukhsh has served as President of MONASH University Postgraduate Association (MUPA) for a one-year term in 2018. In his capacity as President, he represented MUPA in the Campus-level committees and was instrumental in implementing and executing initiatives to improve student welfare and experience on campus.

Beside teaching and research he is actively involved in community based services, serving as manager to Drug and Poison Information Centre (DPIC) at Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. DPIC provides authentic, unbiased and up to date information on medicines and poisoning management to health care professionals and community. He has supervised successful public health awareness campaigns with the help of especially designed patient awareness brochures in English and native language (Urdu), in hospitals and community settings on commonly prevailing diseases like; Diabetes mellitus (How to prevent diabetic retinopathy, How to use insulin injection properly and Proper use of glucometer), How to minimize adverse effects of anti-HCV medications (Interferon and Ribavirin), etc. Dr. Bukhsh also successfully convened Blood Donner Society (BDS) and Center for Emergency and Medical Services (CEMS) of UVAS for three years.
