UVAS conducts focused research in collaboration with government departments to address critical issues and challenges. Department of Meat Science and Technology is getting funding from different funding agencies, mainly from the Higher Education Commission, to deal with different economically important industrial issues. Recently, the department has received funding from HEC under the NRPU programme to check the prevalence of biological hazards in fresh and saltwater fish for exploiting the potential to export and possibly control measures. The nature of this project is applied and leads to the development of guidelines regarding the meat industry.

The Department of Meat Science and Technology  has recently completed a research project titled 'Using Innovative Packaging And Processing Technologies To Improve Meat Quality, Eating Quality And Shelf-Life Of Fresh Beef And Beef Products' funded by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The nature of this project was applied and leads to development of guidelines regarding meat industry.
