Program on student food insecurity/hunger

2022

Under the leadership of Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus (T.I), Principal, UVAS Narowal Campus, World Egg Day was celebrated at CVAS Narowal. All the faculty, staff and students participated in the walk. All the participants were then seated in the seminar room to attend the informative session arranged by the Department of Animal Sciences, CVAS Narowal. Mr. Muhammad Mubashar Saleem, Lecturer, Poultry Science delivered a comprehensive and informative session regarding the nutritive values of Eggs and also interacted with the participants to answer their questions to remove their misunderstandings and ambiguities. Participants from University of Narowal also attended the key session with a keen interest. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus, Principal, CVAS Narowal concluded the event by adding valuable informative regarding food safety and zoonotic concerns linked with eggs and meat. All the participants enjoyed the refreshment served with egg-dishes and tea. Few glimpses of the event are attached for your kind information.  

It is shared with all that on dated 13-01-2022, an interactive seminar on "Milk value chain- A way forward for uplift of dairy sector" was organized by the Department of Dairy Technology under Capacity Building Project at KBCMA, CVAS- Narowal. Principal, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus (T.I) warmly welcomed the Participants and expressed his gratitude for FAPT, the Department of Dairy Technology at UVAS, Ravi campus Pattoki, and Department of Animal Sciences, KBCMA, CVAS- Narowal involvement. He addressed the participants and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between dairy farmers, industry stakeholders and faculty officials of CVAS-Narowal.

The session was attended by dairy farmers comprising small-scale farmers and progressive commercial farmers of the District Narowal. Officials from L&DD department, Dr. Muhammad Saeed, ADL- Narowal and Mr. Tahir Saeed, Deputy Director Operations PFA- Narowal. Dr. Muhammad Junaid, the Project Director, briefed about the Capacity Building Project and gave a presentation on the current status of the dairy value chain, supply chain management flaws, dairy modernization techniques, the importance of maintaining quality parameters through clean milk production and milk chilling, and improving financial status through value addition.

It is to be shared with great pleasure that the building of Dairy Training and Research Unit at KBCMA CVAS Narowal has been completed and inaugurated with the placement of nine newly inducted large ruminants (15 existing) including three Holstein Frisian and six Sahiwal heifers shifted from Dairy Farm, Ravi Campus-UVAS. The Worthy Principal KBCMA CVAS Narowal, Meritorious Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus (T.I) visited the Dairy Shed along with the respected faculty members of the Department of Animal Sciences, and advised the concerned team to look after the animals, day and night using their professional expertise. He said that this Dairy Unit is a great opportunity for Dairy Investors and DVM, LAD and other students to learn about latest techniques and practices regarding dairy industry. Further extending his remarks, he specially thanked to the Worthy Vice Chancellor and the Worthy Pro-Vice Chancellor for supporting on the speedy construction of this building. 

2021

The respected Principal, Prof. Dr. Muhammad   Younus, faculty Members and students participated in the awareness walk to highlight the importance of egg in daily human life. Students actively participated in the Poster, Egg Eating and Cooking Competitions. During the session, the honorable Principal addressed the audience regarding World Egg Day and advised them to avoid eating half cooked egg and egg products because these contain pathogenic microbes and to include fully cooked eggs in their daily food for healthy growth to end poverty and enhance nutritious growth. Moreover, he admired the Department of Animal Sciences for organizing such a wonderful event. The Egg Day was financially sponsored by a Poultry Stakeholder, Dr. Abdul Rehman Malik, one of the best friends and class-fellows of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Rana, from Narowal.
