Biography

My research interests cover a broad range of areas by exploiting DNA from non-invasive sampling, such as from feces, urine, soil, water or from hairs. The quality and quantity of such a DNA is feeble as compared with the DNA extracted from the tissue samples. Such an approach can be applicable to many molecular basis of identification of species, without touching or even observing them, or even ideal for elusive and endangered species. With the advent of next generation sequencing, we can generate millions of sequences from a single run. Such an approach is ideal for meta-barcoding (amplifying multiple species from a single sample). During my PhD study from University of Grenoble, Grenoble France, I have applied these approaches to study the diet of endangered felids of South-Asia and have published my results in peer reviewed journals, as well as in international scientific conferences. I have also won international research grants during my PhD study.
