Prompting Commercial & Social Enterprising
Developing Communities: Driving Pillar to Meet Social Responsibility
Majority of farmers in rural areas are smallholders and survive around poverty
lines while livestock is the sole source of meeting their day to day needs. UVAS
being the flagship University in livestock and allied sectors has a strong
realization of its social responsibility and have taken various initiatives in
pursuance of the same. UVAS has partnered with Charles Sturt University Australia
under AusAid funded Agriculture Sector Linkages Program to bring social change in
the lives of rural livestock & dairy farmers. UVAS has established a Project Management
Unit under this collaboration that carry out number of social development programs including
training & capacity building, extension services, market linkages development, field research
etc. for rural community in seven districts of Punjab and Sindh.
Moreover, UVAS has established various platforms that proactively engage students and faculty
to work for community development and social outreach in pursuance of the social enterprising.
These initiatives including, Vets Care Club, Vet Crescent Society, SAVERS, IDEAS etc. are
considerably contributing in prompting social enterprising and bringing the difference in
lives of thousands.
