Biography

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fiaz Qamar (HEC approved supervisor for PhD), is a Professor and Chairman, Department of Pathobiology, College Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Jhang sub-campus University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan and holds DVM., M.Sc. (Hons.) and Ph.D. in Parasitology. He worked as Livestock Officer, Livestock Department, Govt. of The Punjab, with the support of Novartis (Animal Health) to develop Multi-sectoral Integrated Parasite Control Strategy (IPCS). He conducted significant part of his Ph.D. research at Department of Parasitology and published 04 peer reviewed papers from that research. Prof. Dr. Qamar’s fundamental expertise is in the field of Parasitology, especially development of strategic tools to explore their impact on human and Livestock health & parasitic diseases management. Prof. Dr. Qamar has more than 46 peer reviewed research publications, 54 conference proceedings, 04 international research based books. He presented research findings in 17 international and national scientific conferences in various countries including Egypt, South Korea, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Thailand. So far, he has produced around 10 postgraduate students under his supervision. Prof. Dr. Qamar being the member of various professional bodies including Pakistan Veterinary Medical Association, Pakistan, Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA), Pakistan, The Alumini Society of University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore-Pakistan, PARACON (Pakistan Society of Parasitology), Iranian Association of Parasitologists, IRAN, World Federation of Parasitologists. Alumini Association, College of Veterinary Sciences, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, INDIA, International Society of Zoology, China, WWF, Pakistan, Member, Panel of judges in Punjab Provincial Science Fair, Science Pakistan, World Cancer Association Pakistan and American Association for Parasitology etc. is contributing for the uplift of scientific knowledge in the field of Parasitology and to translate this knowledge for improvement of livestock and poultry production in the country.  

Areas of Interest:

    1. Teaching of D.V.M., and M. Phil students in Parasitology.
    2. Conduction of problem oriented basic and applied research with the involvement of post-graduate students.
    3. Creation of awareness about parasites and their control.
    4. Provision of diagnostic and identification services to the farmers and pet owners.
    5. Training of stakeholders and para-veterinary staff through short courses and workshops.
    6. Studies on the prevalence and control of zoonotic parasites.
    7. Surveillance, diagnosis and control of important helminthic and protozoan infections of animals.
    8. Studies on arthropods of veterinary importance, their control and insect borne diseases.
