Muhammad Ilyas Riaz

Dr. Muhammad Ilyas Riaz has been working as lecturer in Institute of Microbiology University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore since November 02, 2017 to date. He did his D.V.M from UVAS, in 2015 and ends up among the top three of session        2010-15, M. Phil Microbiology in 2017 and currently enrolled as PhD scholar in Microbiology Department UVAS, Lahore. His M.Phil. research project was “Microbial Analysis and Quality Control of Milk” in which he investigate the milk quality of Lahore district in the lights of microbial standards, chemical adulterations, antibiotic residues and aflatoxin residues and flags the appalling situation of food safety and food security in this 4th ranked highest milk producing country of the globe. Dr. Ilyas also has one years of teaching, research and disease diagnostic experience in the University Diagnostic Lab, UVAS Lahore where he has served as teaching assistant and engaged in supervision of different lab sections including post mortem, serology, bacteriology, molecular biology and also worked as junior technical manager for the implementation of lab management system ISO 17025:2005 in this first ISO certified veterinary diagnostic lab of Pakistan. Dr. Ilyas was the youngest participant from Pakistan selected in American Society for Microbiology (ASM) yearlong training program entitled “52 weeks of Biosafety” and on the nomination of ASM he passed the certification exam of International Federation of Biosafety Association (IFBA) in the Biorisk Management category and he is the youngest IFBA Biorsik Certified Professional of Pakistan. Dr. Ilyas had been selected in the 2018 Future Fellowship program of Health Security Partner (HSP) which is a yearlong leadership program of early career scientists from all over the world focused on community health security. He has worked as team member in different projects and participated in many international and national workshops and training and also organized various workshops and training as resource person as well. Lastly, Dr. Ilyas is committed to work hard and excel in his area of expertise that includes but not limited to Biorisk Management and vaccine development of different diseases of veterinary importance.
