Biography

Ms. Sadia Chaman, is a lecturer of Pharmacognosy at Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS), University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. She holds B.Pharmacy degree and Masters of Philosophy (M. Phil)  in Pharmacognosy from  University College of Pharmacy, University of the Punjab, Lahore. During her M. Phil research, she isolated and characterized compounds from Seabuck thorn berries and evaluated there antioxidant, antimicrobial, antI diabetic  and contraceptive potentials.  

She started her professional career with a renowned Pharmaceutical company, Medimark  Pakistan as a Product Specialist in cardiovascular group specialty .She was promoted as product manager and served for two years. She arranged trainings and designed literature for sales and marketing teams.

She served University of Faisalabad, as lecturer for 5 months. She was dynamically involved in teaching undergraduate Pharmacy, students, especially the subject of pharmacognosy.

She was appointed as lecturer in Institute of Pharmaceutical sciences w. e. f., August 9th, 2010. She has been involved in mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students and has been managing them not only to the basic theory and practical subjects of pharmacy but has also been aligning them to international latest research trends in the domain of Pharmacognosy.

Areas of Interest

    1. Teaching and research in Pharmacy (Pharmacognosy).
    2. Isolation and identification of components of crude drugs by using column chromatography  and TLC-UV/Visible Spectroscopy.
    3.  Evaluation of Biological activities  of isolated compounds
    4. Quantification of components of crude drugs by using HPLC.
