IPS Celebrated World Pharmacists Day with Patients in the Public Hospitals
Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, UVAS, celebrated World Pharmacist Day on 25th of September, 2017 with great zeal and zest. The theme of this Year’s World Pharmacist Day was “From research to healthcare: Your Pharmacist is at your service”. To highlight the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system the day started with an awareness walk led by Prof. Dr. Nasim Ahmad, Pro-Vice Chancellor UVAS, Dr. Farzana Chowdhary, Director IPS, Dr. Liaquat Ahmad, Asst. Professor and other faculty members in the University premises.
The students of IPS, UVAS, led by their teachers, Dr. Muhammad Usman, Dr. Kashif ur Rehman, Ms. Sadia Chaman, Mr. Nabeel Shahid, Mr. Shoaib Ali Gill, Mr. Tabish Ali, Ms. Fizza Karamant, Mr. Ammar Sarwar and Ms. Nadia Saleem visited the Children’s Hospital, Lahore General Hospital and Gulab Devi Hospital where they distributed the gift packs among the children and other patients admitted in the wards. They also counseled and guided the patients and their attendants about the necessary precautions to be followed in the rational and safe use of drugs. Patients took keen interest in understanding their medicines related aspects and were highly obliged by this visit of young pharmacist students of UVAS for their health caring and pleasant attitude towards them.
Pharmacy students also distributed pamphlets to general public within and outside these hospitals to highlight the active role of pharmacists in the appropriate use of medicines in the healthcare system and their management in case of any untoward effects. They were also educated about the importance of healthy life style in the prevention of diseases.
