Biography:

Dr. Niaz is working as a lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Faculty of Bio-Sciences, University of Veterinary and Animals Sciences (UVAS), Lahore 54000, Punjab-Pakistan. He completed a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Bio-Sciences, UVAS, Lahore, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine (International Campus), Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Tehran 1416753955, Iran. Dr. Niaz is active in curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities. He has over ten years of teaching and research experience in Pharmacology and Toxicology. He taught different courses of Pharmacology to BSc Nursing classes in the Department of Pharmacology, School of Medicine (International Campus), TUMS, Iran. At present, he is teaching different courses of Pharmacology and Toxicology, both theory and practical to undergraduate classes of DVM, BS (Hons.) Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND). BS (Hons.) Applied Microbiology, BS (Hons.) Environmental Sciences and BS (Hons.) Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), and postgraduate classes of M.Phil. and Ph.D at UVAS. Dr. Niaz is serving as a supervisor and acting as a major member of the postgraduate student's supervisory committee in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at UVAS. He has published several articles in well-reputed journals including some short communications in the Journal of Hepatology (IF 25.70) with an overall impact factor of 69.01. He published some local articles in Agro Veterinary News (AVN) and is the co-author of the three manuals written for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Dr. Niaz attended the Singapore Hepatology Conference (SHC) and Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) Cure Meetings 2021 and 2022 in Singapore. He attended and presented the research work at the International Liver Congress 2021 and 2022 held in the UK organized by the European Association for the Study of Liver (EASL). Dr. Niaz was awarded the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) scholarship by the Federal Government of Pakistan during his undergraduate study and the Gold Merit-Based Tuition-Waiver Scholarship by the Iranian Government in Ph.D. studies. He was awarded the best student award of the Department of Pharmacology, TUMS, the best student award of the TUMS (International Campus), and the best student award of TUMS International Avicenna Club during his Ph.D. studies (2017-2022). Dr. Niaz is active in extra-curricular activities too. He worked as a vice president of the University Athletics Games and the University Kabbadi Sports at UVAS. He is a lifetime member of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), the Alumni Association of UVAS, and the Alumni Association of TUMS. Dr. Niaz has also the experience of administrative activities. He served as the departmental focal person for Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) queries, in charge of the departmental internal audit report/fixed assets, general member and secretary of the departmental students grievance committee, member of the inspection committee to inspect the items supplied by the bidder to the office of the Dean, in charge of the lecture room and undergraduate and postgraduate laboratories of Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, and the focal person for departmental website updation activities at UVAS.
