UVAS observed International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction

LAHORE (17-10-18): The Department of Environmental Sciences of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore observed “International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction” here on Tuesday in City Campus Lahore.
The Society for Conservation of Environment and Nature (SCEN) arranged walk and seminar to mark the day to create awareness regarding the measures to be taken in order to cop up with natural disasters issues.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha led the walk while UVAS Senior Tutor Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and a number of students and faculty members participated in the walk.
Later a seminar held, in which eminent speakers from different public sector organizations including Muhammad Riaz Chief Meteorologist Flood Forecasting Division Lahore, Dr Inam Ur Rehman, Ms Laila Shahzad and Dr Yasir Qayyum Gill delivered awareness lectures to UVAS students. They spoke about the introduction of natural disasters, their different categories and explanatory discussion on basic principles of initiation of different natural disasters. Technologies which are currently deployed in the world to reduce the impacts of all natural disasters and its implementations in Japan regarding earthquake resistant buildings and high level of public awareness about personal safety in case of earthquake were also highlighted.
