New Bio-Sciences academic block inaugurated at UVAS
LAHORE (05-06-18): Planning and Development Board Punjab Chairman Mohammad Jehanzaib Khan inaugurated a state-of-the-art Biosciences Academic Block of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore on City Campus Lahore on Tuesday.
The academic block cost Rs 90 million and has been completed in 16 months. The block consists of a lecture theater, three lecture rooms, a seminar hall, eight laboratories, an amphitheater and faculty offices with all the latest necessary facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Jehanzaib Khan said that UVAS has become a hub of veterinary education through its quality education and research. He said it is direly needed to focus on knowledge creation, which is the main source of development. He suggested that UVAS must developed strong links with private sector for the promotion of livestock and related sectors, entrepreneurship and economic development. He said that students’ research thesis should focus on field problems/real issues of society for community development.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha spoke about various UVAS laboratories, disease diagnostics and clinical services, consultancy and advisory services, farmers and livestock professional dairy training for the profitability of poor farming community. He listed the development projects successfully completed like Narowal Sub Campus “Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad Para-Veterinary School Narowal and recently establish Cholistan University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Bahawalpur (CUVAS). He lauded the vital role Jehanzaib Khan as L&DD secretary in the development of UVAS and livestock sector. He thanked the Punjab government for providing funds for development projects of the university. He said that recently in Times Higher Education World University Ranking and QS World Top University Ranking, UVAS has been ranked not only among top Asian Universities rather among Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies world University Rankings. He also spoke about the healthy nutrition programme started at nearest primary schools of Ravi campus Pattoki with provided daily an egg and glass of milk to school going children in their class rooms which brought enormous impact in terms of good health of children to attract them to school.
