UVAS celebrates 71st Independence Day of Pakistan in befitting manner
LAHORE (14-08-18): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore celebrated 71th Independence Day in a befitting manner and organised various activities to mark the day on Tuesday.
The day began with Quran Khawani and special prayers in the university mosque for our martyrs and for the progress and prosperity of the country. Later a flag-hoisting ceremony was arranged. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) hoisted the national flag while faculty members, staff and students attended in large numbers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the university employees and students on celebrating the Independence Day and asked them to work hard with honesty and dedication for the progress of the university and the country.
He said that UVAS has a key role in the country’s development. He said that if we produce healthy food it automatically benefits the nation and contributes to development of national economy. He said we can increase exports by improving our sector and encouraging entrepreneurship. He also called for abiding by the sayings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and vision of Allam Iqbal. He said we must remember the services of our elders who had sacrificed their lives for the achievement of our motherland.
Various competitions including gun shooting, archery, national songs among the university employees and students while tug of war, musical chair, and patriotic songs contests were arranged among children of university employees.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha along with Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani distributed trophies and prizes among all the contest winners.
Later, VC Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha along with faculty and staff members visited UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki. In connection with Independence Day of Pakistan to promote greenery and a healthy environment contribute to green Pakistan, all the faculty and staff members planted large number of saplings in A, block Ravi Campus Pattoki.
Similar activities of flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held on Ravi Campus Pattoki, Collage of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CVAS) Jhang Campus, Para-Veterinary Institute Karor Lal-Eason Layyah and Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad Para-Veterinary School (KBCMA CVAS) Narowal.
