UVAS inks MOU with PPMA to enhance cooperation in education, training and research
LAHORE (12-04-18): The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore and Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (North) have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in education, training and research.
Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and PPMA (North) Chairman Engr M Haseeb Khan signed the MoU in a ceremony held in City Campus Lahore on Thursday. UVAS Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, Director Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dr Farzana Choudhary, Dr Imtiaz Rabbani and UVAS faculty members and officials from PPMA were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr Pasha briefed PPMA delegation on the UVAS academic, campuses, research, clinical & disease diagnostic facilities, development projects regarding Livestock Technology Park, Training Centre for Biologics Production, Export Facilitation Center etc. He said UVAS establishing training center for biologics production at Ravi Campus Pattoki for prevention of deadly hemorrhagic septicemia (HS), foot and mouth disease (FMD). He said UVAS working closely with livestock, poultry and dairy industry by providing innovative scientific support for the growth of industry to curb the disease related issues. He said MoU would be very beneficial for UVAS undergraduate and postgraduate students, stakeholders and also for the development of Pharmaceutical industry in Pakistan. All the member of the meeting put forward various suggestions to enhancing the cooperation for the capacity building of students to attract them for working in pharmaceutical industry for their practical experience.
According to the MoU, the cooperation between the two parties aims to foster advancement in education, training and research in the disciplines mutually acceptable to them through sharing of faculty, facilities and other resources. They will also collaborate in learning regarding drug development and research activities. The IPS and PPMA members will jointly make publications on their collaborative research projects. They will work together especially in students’ learning, facilitation in personnel capacity building, product development & research for production of medicines according to World Health Organization’s GMP Guidelines so as to contribute effectively to the healthcare system of Pakistan.
The PPMA members will prefer IPS students while recruiting professionals for Pharmacist jobs. The two organisations will also jointly arrange seminars, workshops and conferences to promote education and research in the related fields of drugs / medicines.
PPMA members will facilitate IPS students as research internees and offer its facility for internship of six weeks to the fresh graduates and R&D laboratory facilities to postgraduate students. The IPS will assist PPMA members in development of new products, formulations, stability studies etc.
