Turkish delegation visits UVAS
LAHORE (12-05-17): Two Turkish professors from the University of Selcuk Konya, Turkey, visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I) here on Friday.
The delegation comprising Prof Dr Abdullah Basoglu from the Department of Internal Medicine and Prof Dr Cafer Tepeli from Department of Animal Science discussed with the Vice-Chancellor the areas of collaboration. Separately, the Turkish professors held a meeting with Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Masood Rabbani. Prof Rabbani briefed the delegation on the history, faculties, academic, research, extension and training programmes of the UVAS. He said that UVAS is playing a key role in development of livestock and related sectors by producing competent trained manpower and conducting field-oriented research.
The Turkish professors sought collaboration with UVAS in researchable areas. They also desired making joint projects to solve livestock issues in Pakistan. Later delegation visited various departments and laboratories of UVAS.
The University of Selcuk is also providing assistance in establishment of a new university named “Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences” at Bahawalpur. Earlier these professors acted as resource persons of a training workshop conducted on the topic of “Hands-on Training on Clinical Veterinary Medicine & Animal Sciences”. The training was aimed to provide knowledge to in-service veterinarians/newly-recruited veterinary officers and faculty members on human resource development and capacity building.
