UVAS students clinch medals in various competitions
LAHORE (05-05-17): The drama society ‘Natak Mandli’ of University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences Lahore got first position in “All Pakistan Co-Curricular Competitions” with the best play award in “All Pakistan Drama Competition” jointly organised by the Higher Education Commission, National Accountability Bureau and The Educationist. The title of the Urdu drama was “Paansa” which won five awards in the following five out of nine categories: winner play, best director, best production, best technical and best actor negative role.
Earlier, Natak Mandli also participated in drama and mime competitions organised by the Information and Culture Department Punjab and won first position in both the competitions. The UVAS students also received awards of ‘Best Props’, ‘Best Production’ and ‘Best Script’.
The UVAS Business School students took part in DICE Business Idea Competition held at National Textile University Faisalabad. BBA (Hons) students won Sponsor's Award (a shield and cash prize worth Rs 20,000. Over 60 universities participated in the competition with more than 100 teams.
UVAS literary society “Qirtas” participated in Annual Olympiad 2017 at CPMC, Lahore. Ifrah Irshad won first position in poem presentation, Nabbia Khalid first position in poster competition, Abdul Wahab got 2nd position in poster competition while Ifrah Irshad 3rd position in on-spot sketching.
Meanwhile, the UVAS Debating Society won various positions in All Pakistan Debates Competition. Uzma Malik of Department of Human Nutrition and Food Sciences got first position in the contest held at Fatimah Jinnah Medical College and Hassan Shakoor of IBBT got 2nd position in the debates held at Nazaria-e-Pakistan Trust.
The UVAS team first time participated in All Pakistan Third Intervarsity Jujistu Men Championship held at University of Agriculture Faisalabad and won seven bronze medals with 52 points.
UVAS male team participated in All Pakistan Intervarsity Karate Championship held at Balochistan University, Quetta and UVAS players won nine bronze medals with 39 points.
Later, UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha lauded the performance of UVAS students and congratulated them for their achievements in a ceremony and given them appreciation certificates while Senior Tutor UVAS Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and a number of students were present.
