UVAS arranges Kissan Mela, dog and snake shows
LAHORE (07-03-17): The Department of Clinical Medicine & Surgery, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore, arranged a Farmers’ Day (Kissan Mela) on Ravi Campus Pattoki.
A large number of farmers from the nearby villages participated in the mela while students and faculty members were also present.
Dr Muhammad Avais from Department of Clinical Medicine gave the farmers various tips on field diagnosis of mastitis, its symptoms and treatment, Dr Muhammad Ijaz spoke about foot and mouth disease, its symptom, treatment and prevention, Dr Waseem about the internal worms of the animals while Dr Afzal spoke about growth promoters in male calves.
Drinking milk competition among farmers was also arranged on the occasion while students presented various skits/dramas to create awareness among farmers about various important aspects of farming. Dog and snake shows were also arranged on the occasion. Companies also set up various stalls on the occasion.
District Council Kasur Chairman Rana Sikandar Hayat and Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha distributed prizes among the dog show winners.
Earlier addressing the farmers, the Vice-Chancellor said that the university is creating awareness among farmers about animal nutrition, health and management. He said that the university is working in close collaboration of the community for the benefit of poor farmers.
