One-day annual job fair 2017 at UVAS
LAHORE (30-01-17): The Office of University Advancement and Financial Aid (OUAFA) and Business Incubation Centre (BIC) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Sadiq Group of Companies and A&K Pharmaceuticals organised a one-day job fair here on the City Campus Lahore on Monday.
President Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry Abdul Basit inaugurated the job fair while Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, Pakistan Poultry Association Northern Zone Chairman Dr Abdul Karim Bhatti, Dr Shoaib Sarwar and a large number of industry representatives and students were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Basit requested all companies’ representatives to provide more and more opportunities to fresh graduates for their bright future. He said UVAS-trained manpower are working actively at national and international level in various organizations. He appreciated UVAS vibrant role and effort in the development of livestock and poultry and dairy sectors in Pakistan through its trained manpower and quality education.
Dr Abdul Kareem Bhatti advised students to choose a better field for your bright future and successful career lies in their hard work and interest in work.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that it is a good opportunity for students to connect with the industry and find better career placements. He said UVAS is closely working with the industry and other veterinary institutions including Lasbela University of Agriculture, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Agriculture University Faisalabad, Sind Agriculture University Tandojam for quality of veterinary education and research. He said UVAS trained manpower is working actively to solve various issues related to diseases diagnosis and its eradication in livestock sector, poultry and dairy industries for the uplift the economy of the country. He said that for the promotion of safe healthy and high quality meat and milk UVAS will establish an outlet on Abdul Qadir Jillani road outside UVAS. He said UVAS is conducting various farmers training programmes on Ravi Campus Pattoki. He also lauded the efforts OUAFA in organizing such a mega event.
Abdul Basit and Dr Talat Naseer Pasha also took a round of the stalls and talked to company representatives and students.
Total 30 companies set up their stalls at the fair, displayed their products and services and registered university students, who are nearing graduation for jobs.
The objective of the fair was to provide an opportunity to new and graduating students and the alumni to meet the industry representatives and discuss with them about availability of various internships and career opportunities.
A large number of students from Bachelor, Master, M.Phil and Ph.D programmes of Applied Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Business Studies and Pharmacy visited the stalls, where companies registered them for their possible induction into their organizations.
