UVAS incubating businesses for development of livestock, poultry sector
LAHORE (11-01-17): University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha has said that there are enormous business opportunities in livestock and poultry sectors in the country.
He said this while chairing the launching ceremony of “Pro Life Agri-Business Solution” organised by the UVAS Business Incubation Centre (BIC) on Wednesday. The BIC helped an MPhil student Mr Dr Taimoor Azeem of the university in launching the agri-business to provide quality cattle feed (wanda and mineral mixture) and consultancy to dairy and fattening farms, management & marketing skills and organise training programme for the capacity building of livestock farmers.
The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the BIC efforts in incubating businesses and helping university graduates in taking such initiatives towards entrepreneurship and economic development. He said that education brought revolution in society and UVAS veterinarians are playing active role in development of livestock, poultry and dairy sectors.
Earlier, BIC Deputy Director Dr Shoaib Sarwar said that the incubation centre is promoting entrepreneurship, mentoring business opportunities, commercializing research and strengthening university-industry linkages. Dr Taimoor Azeem spoke about the importance of business for livestock farming community.
Dean Faculty of Bio-Sciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Dr Muhammad Afzal, Prof Dr Asim Aslam, Prof Dr Aftab Anjum, Founder of Pro Life Agri-Business Solution Dr Taimoor Azeem, Deputy Director BIC Dr Shoaib Sarwer and many officials from public & private sectors were present.
