American delegation visited UVAS
LAHORE (03-08-17): The President National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) Mr Jay L. Weiker from Wisconsin United State of America (USA) visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) City Campus Lahore and called on Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and held a detailed meeting with UVAS professors of Theriogenology.
The Vice-Chancellor chaired meeting and briefed the delegation on the UVAS academic, research, extension services, reproduction clinical and lab facilities for small and large animals, short term dairy training programmes and internship, etc. He said UVAS and Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab are equally working closely with the poultry, dairy industries and also along with livestock farming community to solving their issues. He said it is direly needed to ban soft drinks in all institutions canteens, replacing them with the flavored milk to provide healthy nutrition in schoolchildren/students in Punjab.
The participants of the meeting were discussed on various aspects related to genomics, high quality disease free semen, farmer education, dairy herd management, breeding services and techniques, etc.
The Mr Jay L. Weiker wanted to make a strong collaboration with UVAS especially in the areas of dairy animal breeding and genetics. He emphasized that dairy farmers must be well aware about that how high quality bull selected for semen collection.
On the occasion, UVAS Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, Prof Dr Mian Abdul Sattar, Chairman Department of Theriogenology Dr Amjad Riaz and Dr Ali Husnain were attended meeting.
